How abt Max/El bonding in s3? Envision one day abt a week into the school year, the boys are late so El just plops down next to Max in their homeroom & starts ranting over how protective Hopper is, & Max at first is just like "why is she even talking to me? she hates me?" but then they become buddies bc Max can talk about how awful Billy has been & El offers her superpowers to help out? they also bond over being new kids & they become BFFs & complain abt overprotective boyfriends stuff
bywheelers replied:Honestly I was very disappointed about how they made El be kind of mean to Max, like I understand that she was jealous and stuff but still. So them being friends and just generally girl friends goals? Oh hell yes, sign me the fuck up!
I can totally see them complaining to each other about anything and everything, and El is always asking Max to her house just so Max doesn’t have to be around Billy when he’s home. In more than one occasion, El had to be stopped from using her powers in defending Max because they’re both very overprotective of each other. Max has also gotten in more than one fight with people who badmouth El.
They like to have sleepovers and tell each other about basically everything. The guys complain all the time because honestly? These two could probably take over the entire world and they’re affraid ™.
Another important thing is that El does apologize eventually for what she did to Max, especially since El is completely honest with her and tells Max about that one time in the gym. Max, being the cool girl she is, accepts the apology and forgives El without hesitation and they become the most supportive girl friends ever!
i've been working on a post-season 2 mike centric list of headcanons, and i have this byler-y one that while mike is waiting till he can see el again, will draws a lot of sketches of eleven for him and such and sticks them in his locker or other places where mike will come across them

Like Will always goes to Lucas and Dustin to ask about El, from how she looks like to stories about her great feats so she can portray her perfectly for Mike. He likes to put in a lot of details and make sure that it’s as close as what he’s been told.
Mike is always so happy whenever he sees one of the drawings, he picks them up from wherever Will puts them and stacks them up in his room to look at whenever he especially feels her lose.
Sometimes when Will is less sneaky about it and Mike catches him in the act, he likes to ask Will for other drawings of all of them together, including Will.
(And later, when El does come back, Mike will show her all of Will’s drawings of her and everyone and she’s going to love them so much. Just as much as she will probably love Will.)
