Do you do aged up? If so can we a Byeler proposal. Like one where Mike is trying to go all out but he's so clumsy that he keeps messing it up. 😂

Okay, but let’s imagine. 

Mike really wants to do it in a special way, not just proposing in some restaurant and hide Will’s ring somewhere where he could probably eat it if not careful, that was too cliche and just not original at all. He’s thought about a lot of shit, but in the end what really calls to him is art, because Will is artistic as hell, and he does everything so beautifully, so Mike just wants to give Will a piece of what he’s been getting so far. 

Obviously, he spend a little while trying to come up with something original and surprising, wanting to give his boyfriend a beautiful memory, and in the end something does come up in his mind, but it would require that Will go out all day AND to get a hold of all their friends and family in the span of around 12h which yeah, sure Mike can totally do it.

It’s a complete mess…. 

Mike ends up stressed as hell. He had already talked with everyone over the course of the week, setting everything up. El would go with Will somewhere for the entire day, keeping him occupied. Everyone else would come up to their apartment and help him with the surprise, and everything went well until the point in which El called him to tell them they would come home earlier because Will was becoming a little suspicious of her insisting so much into doing more and more things. 

And Mike just loses it, because they’ve still got things to do and he just DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME. 

Eventually Will and El do arrive home, and Mike is on the them the second Will so much as takes one step inside their apartment. He greets them happily, maybe too much so, because Will just narrows his eyes at both of them and asks what’s up. Mike can feel himself sweat through his shirt, practically shouting that nothing is wrong and why would Will think that for one second. Obviously he’s a terrible actor because Will just keeps looking at him intently, his gaze burning a hole through him and Mike is about to fall down on his knees and sob because this is going so terribly. 

It goes on like this a little while, both Mike and El trying to distract Will, which doesn’t go well at all. Until the point where Will is about to go inside their room, which Mike basically leaps through the air and puts himself in front of his smaller boyfriend and their room door. 

Will steps back, startled by Mike’s movement, and just sighs. 

“Okay, seriously, what is going on? And I want a proper answer, no excuses.”

“Uhm… Seriously nothing is wrong Will, it’s all completely fine, yeah, totally, nothing to see here.”

Mike laughs awkwardly, still posing in front of the door, not letting Will take a step forward. 

“Alright then, nothing is going on, so let me get through.”

Mike panics, flailing his arms around, “No, no, no, just- stay here okay? Just stay here.”

They go back and forth for a moment, both not backing down, until Will strengthens up, he pushes Mike aside with force even he didn’t know he had and practically bulldozes his way inside their room. 

The sight he’s meet with though has him shocked, his eyes widening and mouth opening in surprise. He stands there for what feels like an eternity, just taking the sight in, feeling his heart pick up it’s speed, warmth and happiness flooding him like a river, tears pooling in his eyes. 

He moves a little, getting closer to the wall closer to him, reaching his hand out to touch it hesitantly. He turns around eventually, looking at Mike with so much emotion it’s kinda making him choke up.  

Mike sighs, scratching the back of his head, looking sheepishly at Will from the corner of his eyes, “This was not supposed to go like this, okay? It’s such a mess, it’s not even completely finished, but I just kind of wanted to surprise you? Like I know it probably looks like a mess, and it must not make much sense, but the original idea was great just it didn’t, obviously, go as well as I had pictured in my head, and I don’t even know if I still should go through with this but I feel like I will lose my chance so here goes nothing, honestly.”

He turned around, getting a little startled at all their friends and family poking their heads through the door, big smiles on their faces and looking like they won the lottery. Mike sighs, extends his hand out, “Alright, give it here, Dustin.”

Dustin passes him a simple black velvet box, and Mike turns around again, facing Will, who still has this teary look on his face, and Mike coughs, blushes furiously, and gets down on one knee. 

“So I know this is probably not how you expected me to do this, but, uhm, would you- would you do the honour, of you know, m- marrying me?”, he finished, and before he gets the chance to do anything else, Will has launched himself at Mike, bringing his hands around his neck and hugging him with all his might, making Mike lose is balance and both of them ending up on the floor. Will’s reply is a chanted yes in Mike’s ear and before long they’re both laughing, still embracing each other, their friend and family joining them soon after, all pilling up on top of Mike and Will. Everyone laughs when Mike groans out they’re way too heavy. 

Mike’s surprise is still there the morning after, and every single day for that matter, standing proud on the walls of their bedroom. 

Where they were a baby blue before, now they were full with sweet messages, of love and friendship, from their loved ones telling Will all about how much he means to them, as well as cute and funny drawings, from scenes that have happened to ones that have nothing to do with anything but that still bring a bright smile to Will’s face. Mike’s message is the longest, depicting in very vivid detail what he loves about Will, how much of an impact he has had on him, how much he appreciates that Will is still in his life, ending it with how he would love if Will stayed forever. Next to his message is a messy drawing of him and Mike, both close together, sitting on what he guesses is a sofa. They both have huge smiles on their face. Below it, it says, ‘I found happiness right here, next to you, because every second spent with you is the best thing I will ever do’.

And Will can help but agree. He found happiness in his best friend and it seems it was there to stay, forever.
